Amendments Absent From Reauthorization Act

393 0

The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 has passed. However, after review by the PHPA, we are happy to report that amendments proposed by Senator Adam Schiff and Representative Alan Lowenthal that placed unfair restrictions on the helicopter industry were not included in the bill.

The only two sections that really affect helicopter operations are:
Section 574 which discusses crashworthy helicopter fuel tanks
Section 599E which discusses the mandatory New York North Shore helicopter route.

This is not the first time that Schiff & Lowenthal have tried to introduce legislation to unfairly restrict helicopter operations.

The PHPA will continue to partner with the public, lawmakers and helicopter operators in finding resonable solutions to issues that do not pose an unfair burden to the rotorcraft industry.
